Moose Stew Gluten Free

Makes: 6-8 servings

The rich gamey taste of moose comes alive stewed up with various root vegetables.


  • Cubed moose
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 5 or 6 potatoes, chopped
  • 2-3 carrots, diced
  • 1 small turnip, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: thicken with water and flour mixture; add chilli flakes for added spice


  • Sear moose, then add chopped onion, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Cook for a few minutes, then add enough water to just cover the meat. Simmer until tender, about an hour.
  • Add potatoes, carrots and turnip. Keep the water level just above the ingredients.
  • When cooked, thicken liquid with flour and water mixture if desired.
